Group Dog Training Classes with Aunt Karen
Workshop-style group classes in Hendersonville that will change your understanding of your puppy’s behavior along the path to maturity.
The 4-week classes for every age group are designed for the right stage in your puppy’s development. Training topics each week are flexible and student-driven so each group benefits from their own unique and changing needs. Small class sizes help your dog focus and allow plenty of time for everyone to learn.
Puppy parents also receive a private consultation during the month-long class. This private time is for the special help and individual attention that every puppy and puppy family needs.
Young Puppies Age 2–4 months
This class is for young puppies in their sensitive socialization period. Puppies 12 weeks old and younger will have their first lesson at home. The focus will be on potty training, bite inhibition, chew training, and how to set up your short- and long-term play area and down-time areas for best new puppy results.
At this first meeting, puppy parents will receive important information, homework and advice to prepare for coming to the group classes when puppy is 12+ weeks old or has veterinarian approval.
Puppies 13–19 weeks old can join the group right away. Puppy parents will receive important coaching for successful house training while puppies learn to play nicely together, develop their bite inhibition and acquire basic manners. Training topics will include polite greetings and how to achieve calm behavior around others through focus and impulse control exercises.
Adolescent to Adult Basic Obedience Class
This class is for puppies 5 months of age and older dogs who may have missed out on training earlier in their life. The group will focus on impulse control, polite behavior, functional obedience skills and public access skills for therapy work.
Growing pups will have a chance to learn good manners while they play and you will learn how to burn-off some of their energy in the most productive ways!
This class will also help you expand your socialization efforts and troubleshoot any remaining house training and bite inhibition deficits while installing and practicing basic obedience skills.
Those interested in Canine Good Citizen evaluation will receive the coaching needed to work toward achieving that goal.
Continuing Obedience Class
For dogs 6 months and older, this class will help you continue teaching your pup the good manners and calm behavior that will make your adult dog a pleasure to live with and welcome anywhere dogs are permitted.
Polite greetings and leash manners are emphasized. Obedience skills will be practiced and re-learned for lasting results. Solutions for any remaining puppy-antics like over-excited greetings and other impulse control challenges will be the focus. For those dog+handler pairs interested in therapy work, this class will prepare you for testing and evaluation.
New groups begin every month!
